WLUR Reveals Winter 2014 Open Air Waves Winners

Jubilee, Bateman, Hayhurst chosen as the top performers at the station's open mic night

Jubilee earned the grand prize at the winter 2014 edition of Open Air Waves, WLUR's twice-annual live-broadcast open mic night, held on Thursday, March 6, in the Elrod Commons living room.

An all-female student a cappella group, Jubilee was selected as the evening's top act after placing first in the Group Music category. The Potato Peel Pie Society, a local blues ensemble, and the theatre troupe (540) Productions were tabbed as second-place finishers.

Davis Bateman '16 was chosen as the first-place winner in Solo Music, with Dylan Florig '14 earning second-place honors.

Libby Hayhurst '16 won the top prize in Spoken Word, marking her third first-place finish over the last four Open Air Waves events.
