WLUR Staff Reveal 2013 Top 10 Albums Lists

Vampire Weekend, Postiljonen selected as the best records of the year

WLUR station staff have announced their Top 10 albums lists for 2013, with Vampire Weekend and Postiljonen receiving top honors on the annual charts.

Music director Will Fulwider '14, host of "The Smooth & Melodic Stylings of Fulydyieds", and general manager Jeremy Franklin '04 ("Stockholm Syndrome") both picked Vampire Weekend's Modern Vampires of the City as their No. 1 album. Longtime disc jockey Brett Twitty '06L ("One Man in a Small Room") tabbed Skyer, the debut full-length from Swedish band Postiljonen, as his top record.

Both Twitty and Franklin listed Haim's debut album Days Are Gone at No. 2, while Fulwider and Twitty had two records in common: The National's Trouble Will Find Me appeared in the No. 4 spot on both polls, and Kurt Vile's Wakin on a Pretty Daze placed 10th.

Phoenix's Bankrupt! finished first on WLUR's Top 150 Albums chart, which was compiled based on airplay on the station throughout the calendar year. Vampire Weekend, Chvrches, Yo La Tengo and Pure Bathing Culture rounded out WLUR's top five. Check out the full chart here.
