WLUR Announces Fall 2013 Open Air Waves Winners

The Nudist Buddhists, Kosmas, McDonald earn top prizes at the station's open mic night

The Nudist Buddhists received the grand prize at the fall 2013 edition of Open Air Waves, WLUR's twice-annual live-broadcast open mic night, on Thursday, November 7, in the Elrod Commons living room.

A student band featuring Kane Thomas '14, Aaron Jeong '15 and Daniel Rhoades '16, the Nudist Buddhists were chosen as the evening's winners after finishing first in the Group Music category. Katie Balistreri '16 and Maddie Sullivan '16 earned second-place honors in that classification.

Former grand prize recipient Sara-Jane McDonald was selected as the first-place winner in Solo Music, while Richard Marmorstein '14 earned second-place honors.

Hannah Kosmas received the first-place prize in Spoken Word, with Amira Hegazy '15 notching a second-place finish in the category.
