Title: Galois groups of Legendre polynomials
Abstract: Legendre defined an orthogonal sequence of polynomials in 1785 which have proved remarkably useful in many branches of mathematics and physics. I'll review what we know about their algebraic properties, including recent joint work with John Cullinan (Bard College) on computing their Galois groups.
