Thank you again for being an initial faculty adviser this year.
We sent a message to all First-Years today emphasizing that they should meet with their faculty adviser between Wednesday, October 23 and Thursday, November 1 to pick up their midterm grades and discuss registration for winter term.
You should receive a copy of your advisee's midterm grades via campus mail by Wednesday, October 23. Your advisee is supposed to meet with you to receive their midterm grades, thus giving you an opportunity to discuss their progress, challenges, and resources available.
In addition to meeting with their professors, peer tutors, the Writing Center, and the Math Center; we are offering a new resource this year.
Anna Crockett is the founder of Executive Function Matters and a local resource we have contracted with to enhance learning skills through a large group presentation on Sunday, October 28 at 4pm or 7pm in Commons 345 (identical session offered at multiple times) and small group facilitation including four meetings in the next six weeks. Space is limited, but if your advisee is struggling, you may want to encourage them to attend one of the sessions on October 28.
Please remember that midterm grades will not be sent home as they have been in previous years. You may want to encourage your advisee to discuss their midterm grades with their family if that is appropriate.
Registration for winter term begins on Friday, November 2 at 7am. Your advisee is supposed to meet with you before you grant them approval to register, thus giving you an opportunity to discuss their plan for winter term, their preferred classes list, and their back up plans.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
