Thank you all for the important work you are doing as advisers to our incoming first-year students. Because the schedule for advising during Orientation is different this year, I wanted to remind you of that timeline.
Advising Schedule for Orientation 2012
Tuesday, September 4th:
9-10 Meeting for Advisers (Stackhouse Theater)
10-12 Academic Fair (Leyburn Library)
12:00 Lunch with advisees (Elrod Commons/Evans Dining Hall) ** instructions below
1:30-3:30 Meeting time with advisees (an opportunity for faculty to meet as a group or individually with advisees prior to Pick-One Registration)
3:30 Students "Pick-One" Registration
Wednesday, September 5th:
9:00-11:30 Complete Registration with advisees during assigned registration blocks
**Advisees have been instructed to meet advisers at their office at Noon unless the adviser tells them otherwise. Once all advisees have arrived, the adviser should walk his/her group to their designated location.
Advisers with last names beginning A through LaRiviere should take your group to Elrod Commons Living Room and pick up boxed lunches. There is plenty of seating in the Marketplace, but feel free to take your group wherever you would like.
Advisers with last names beginning LePage through Z should take your group to Evans Dining Hall and pick up boxed lunches. There is plenty of seating in Evans Dining Hall, but feel free to take your group wherever you would like.
The boxed lunches are "build your own," meaning everyone will get to choose from a few options for main course, side item, dessert, and beverage. There will be vegetarian options. If you have dietary needs beyond vegetarian, please contact Jason Rodocker (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Advisers should coordinate any additional 1-on-1 meeting time to occur with their advisees between lunch and the time that advisees register for their first course at 3:30pm on Tuesday. Advisees have no other Orientation commitments between Noon and 3:30pm on Tuesday, September 4th.
Thank you again,
