The Blue Bike program at Washington and Lee is designed to provide a convenient way to get around the campus and Lexington. The use of bicycles instead of motor vehicles results in cleaner air and better health, less traffic and more open parking spaces, less oil consumed and fewer greenhouse gases emitted. Students, faculty and staff may participate in both the Free Bike and Long Term Blue Bike Program by registering on line (below) or in person at Leyburn Library. You may also register at one of the Blue Bike racks on campus.
The Free Bike Program is an honor-system, short-term bike loan program for campus community members (faculty, students and staff). The Free Bikes are parked at special bike racks on campus and are available for day use. The bikes can be returned to any of the Blue Bike racks at the end of the day along with the helmet that is with the bike.
The Long Term Check Out Program allows campus community members who have library access to check out a bike, lock and helmet at Leyburn Library. The bikes are locked and stored at the library. After you are registered you can check out a long term bike with helmet and key for one week. It is the responsibility of the rider to keep the bike locked when not in use and to lock the bike at the library rack when returning the bike, key and helmet.
