Jay Jackson

Senior Director of Development

Jay came to Washington and Lee in January 2012 as Senior Director of Development. His travels will take him to Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and the cities of Memphis and Washington, D.C. Before coming to W&L, Jay worked at the University of Virginia for almost 12 years. He was most recently Director of Development for the Curry School of Education, where he spent over six of those years. He also traveled much of the country for U.Va.'s College of Arts & Sciences. He is excited to be at W&L and has always held the school in high regard for its distinctive and distinguished place among our nation's institutions of higher education.

Originally born in Lexington and raised in the southern Shenandoah Valley, Jay received a bachelor's degree at James Madison University and a M.Ed. at the University of Virginia. Jay was a classroom music teacher for over 20 years at various localities in Virginia. He and his wife have two sons and live in western Albemarle County. He regards his career move to Washington and Lee as "coming home."
