WLUR Staff Reveal 2011 Top 10 Lists

Lykke Li, Destroyer, Wilco selected as the best records of the year

New albums by Lykke Li, Destroyer and Wilco highlight the Top 10 lists of WLUR staff members for 2011.

Assistant general manager and music director Robbie Day '12 ("The John Byrd Show") selected Wilco's The Whole Love as his top record of 2011. Music director Kate Norvelle '12 ("To Be Young...") and general manager/program director Jeremy Franklin '04 ("Stockholm Syndrome") both tabbed Lykke Li's Wounded Rhymes at No. 1, while Brett Twitty, host of "One Man in a Small Room," picked Destroyer's Kaputt.

St. Vincent's Strange Mercy and Real Estate's Days both appeared on three of the four Top 10 lists. Kaputt was also Norvelle's No. 8 selection, while Fleet Foxes' Helplessness Blues and Kurt Vile's Smoke Ring for My Halo each turned up on two lists.

WLUR's Top 150 Albums chart, which was compiled based on airplay on the station throughout the calendar year, featured Radiohead's The King of Limbs at No. 1, followed by records from Fleet Foxes, St. Vincent, Real Estate and The War on Drugs. The full chart can be viewed here.
