W&L Highlight: Returning to Lexington to co-host W&L's 250th celebration with Roger Mudd.
Most Memorable Class: Tie between one politics class and one PE class: Professor Connelly's "Politics and The Media". I had already interned and worked part-time for WDBJ TV in Roanoke. I was the sole defender of the media during the class debates. "Running the Lord" (Norm Lord) PE class. It helped make running a part of my lifestyle. I remember "I did it day," when you ran around the track for an entire hour. I thought it was the longest run I would ever do. Little did I know a few years later, I would be running marathons and Ironman triathlons.
Current Job: Meteorologist for WPVI, the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia.
Current Life: Happily married to Greg Watson (Virginia Tech, class of '88), proud mother of Luke and Emma. Being a mom is the best part of my life!
Latest Accomplishment: Running a 18:25 5K. I am slowly getting closer to my pre-mom speed. That reminds me, I have to email Jim Phemister, my former cross country coach. I have great memories of W&L cross country.
Where I'll Be in Ten Years: Hopefully, exactly where I am now, working at WPVI and raising my children with my husband. I wouldn't want to be doing anything else, anywhere else.
Latest Book Read: "Unbroken," by Laura Hillenbrand. It is an inspiring read!
Hobby: Running road races with my husband. Playing with my children. (But, can you really call that a hobby?)
Why I Do What I Do: I love my job. I can be myself on television and deliver the only part of the newscast that affects everyone. I always say, it beats working for a living!
If I Could Do It All Over Again: I would spend less time my first year at W&L drinking beer and more time appreciating what a great education I was getting.
