Lettie Pate Evans Foundation Gives $1 Million for Newcomb Hall Renovation

from The Bridge: Fall 2010 issue

The Lettie Pate Evans Foundation gave Washington and Lee $1 million toward the renovation and restoration of Newcomb Hall, the first building in the Colonnade project. The Evans foundation makes grants to specified public charities in Georgia and Virginia, especially to private secondary and higher education, arts and culture, and museums and historic preservation. An earlier grant of $150,000 from the Getty Foundation enabled the University to undertake initial planning.
