Washington and Lee University

Create Financial Flexibility

The Washington and Lee Annual Fund provides six percent of the University's operating budget and represents the critical difference in our ability to fulfill our mission. Maintaining a strong, growing Annual Fund is especially critical in these times of economic uncertainty, when budgetary challenges tax the University's resources. Support of the Annual Fund is essential if the University is to meet its strategic goals.

  • W&L Give Day Surpasses Expectations
From the start of its planning, the goal for Give Day—a one-day campaign to increase the number of donors on April 24—was to create a University-wide initiative, encouraging students, undergraduate and law alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends to participate.
  • Say Thanks Day 2012
Celebrating Alumni, Parents, Friends and Philanthropy
On Thursday, November 15th, Washington & Lee students participated in Say Thanks Day--a day to learn about, celebrate, and thank the more than 10,000 donors who support the University each year.
  • Part of the Family: W&L Parents
Ellen and Frank Donnelly P’11, Jan and Don Parker P’11, Peter and Elizabeth Wareing P’98, George and Cathy Morgan P’10, P’15
Washington and Lee is fortunate that so many parents show their appreciation for W&L by donating to the Parents Fund. Comprising unrestricted annual gifts, it contributes to the overall Annual Fund goal and helps meet the University’s most pressing needs every year—and especially so during the campaign.
  • Young Donors Make Giving a Priority
Sonia Siu '07 may live in New York City, but she hasn't forgotten the community that helped nurture her as a W&L student. Siu recently gave $10,000 for the Friends of Rockbridge (FOR), which enables Shepherd Poverty Program students to serve Rockbridge County.
