Corporate and Foundation Giving

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations collaborates with virtually every office on campus to bridge the institutional needs and priorities of W&L with the strategic initiatives of philanthropic foundations and corporate giving programs across the country.

CFR works primarily with the offices of the President, Provost and Deans to pursue funding for projects most central to the university strategic plan. We also capture opportunities arising from foundation and corporation calls for proposals, respond to national giving trends as they are appropriate to our mission, and work with academic departments and faculty members to support specific programmatic initiatives.

We are pleased to announce that Judith Wubah, has accepted our offer to become the Associate Director for Strategic Initiatives in University Development as part of the Corporate and Foundation Relations team. With her academic background and her experience in grant making, Judith will bring important experience in fulfilling her responsibilities of proactively identifying and creating proposal strategies for major corporate, foundation, and government grant opportunities matching current and emerging institutional priorities and the current emphases of the funder; working closely with faculty in identifying possible government and other foundation or corporate funding for research and scholarship and helping develop proposal strategies; soliciting philanthropic support from prospective funders through the preparation and submission of written proposals; and assisting the provost, deans, and faculty with proposals. Judith will also teach an annual spring-term biology course for pre-med students.

This department also assists faculty in seeking grant support for individual research and scholarship. Please see the Faculty Grant Support section for more information.
