A former reporter, editorial writer and editor for metropolitan newspapers in Connecticut and Kentucky, George has worked for or with colleges and universities for the past decade - first as executive director of the Kentucky Center for Public Issues, then as senior associate at Kentucky's coordinating council for postsecondary education, and most recently as director of strategic communication at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia.
George taught writing and editing to upper-level students at the University of Kentucky and was a producer and the host of an award-winning public-affairs radio program in Louisville, Kentucky. He has a bachelor's degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and earned a master's degree in management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as a Corporate Fellow at its Hartford campus. He was a Knight-Wallace Fellow in journalism at the University of Michigan and has studied at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, the University of Louisville, and in Rome, Italy.
